Are you prepared for ethanol in your gas-powered engines?
Know the dangers of ethanol gasoline.
Simply put, ethanol is an excellent SOLVENT (dissolves plastic, rubber, fiberglass and more), CLEANSER, DRYING AGENT and unlike MTBE ethanol will ABSORB WATER, which can cause serious problems to some engines.
Example(s): Ethanol will dissolve resins that create a black sludge that coats and travels through the engine, causing engine stalling and complications, including clogged fuel filters, carburetor jets and injectors.  Ethanol burns at higher temp causing damage to pistons. Ethanol dries out and disintegrates many rubber and plastic parts and hoses in engine.  Ethanol will release rust, debris, sediment (just about anything that has accumulated in engine) and release this gunk - clogging and damaging many engine components and filters.

Ethanol is hygroscopic (will absorb water), and is a strong solvent (dissolves materials)....

Due to ethanol's affinity for water, phase separation and water contamination occur much sooner. The shelf life of E10 gas is below 100 days under ideal conditions.
E10 and E85 fuel generate less energy than conventional non-alcohol fuel which means your MPG will decrease.
By 2008, most gasoline stations have switched over to E10 alcohol ethanol-blended fuel, replacing MTBE, for oxygenating fuel.
The switchover has been slow since the 1990's, and widespread use resulted in part from mandates of The 2006 Clean Air Act.
To avod problems and unnecessary costs with E10 you must begin by determining if your state labels the gas pumps when E10 (alcohol gas) is being sold.
Also important is to verify gas contains the legal limit (10 % since ethanol is usually added by the gasoline company delivery truck driver
and stations are not required to check gas contains the correct amount of alcohol.

E10 and E85, renewable gasoline can decrease U.S. dependence on foreign fuels.
But problems emerged because the alcohol in E10 & E85 attracts water into gas, and has many undesireable side effects that can cause engine damage.

Easily detect if gas is safe for your engine, with a portable Ethanol Alcohol Test Kit.

Do you know if and how much alcohol is in the gas you puchase?
Are you aware of the engine damage alcohol fuels can cause?

E10 can lower gas mpg by 2 to 20%, and E85 reformulated fuel lowers mpg about 40 %.

Many areas do NOT label gas pump when ethanol is added.
Only 8 states always label to inform and warn customers that gas contains alcohol!

The following states DO NOT LABEL ethanol content in gas pumps:
District of Columbia DC - Indiana IN - Kansas KS - Kentucky KY
Louisiana LA - Maryland MD - Michigan MI - Minnesota MN - Missouri MO
Nevada NV - New Jersey NJ - North Carolina NC - Ohio OH - Oklahoma OK

Follow simple precautions to decrease risk and help safely manage E10 fuel.
