ETHANOL GAS PUMP LABELING LAWS
Louisiana now requires E10 sticker pump labeling
when ethanol alcohol is added to gasoline.
Unlike many other states it does not appear LA currently requires all gasoline to contain ethanol - Total motor gasoline sales must contain 2 percent ethanol by 2015.
Many Louisiana residents falsely believe premium grade gasoline does not contain ethanol - Untrue.
Based on our customer reports, from those using fueltesters, premium grade gasoline in LA often does contain lower 2-3% ethanol, but it can contain up to 10%.

Louisiana Begins Testing Corn Substitutes for Ethanol...
Many changes will soon be happening in Louisiana regarding alternative/renewable fuels - LA is the first state to enact alternative transportation fuel legislation that includes a variable blending pump pilot program with mid-range blends (blends of E10, E20, E30 and E85) and a pilot program for the use of hydrous ethanol.
In a trial program that runs until 2012, variable blending pumps will be offered to consumers as a less expensive substitute for unleaded gasoline at ethanol blends of 10 to 85% (E10, E20, E30 and E85). Ethanol will be harvested from non-corn crops (anhydrous ethanol) grown in Louisiana. LA currently has one cellulosic ethanol plant running.
Fuel Testers Comments: When I last checked it was unclear exactly what type of grain would be used to replace corn (ethanol) - Discussion included sweet sorghum, plants, trees, grass clippings and other types of vegetable/plants most abundant in this state.
Sugar cane is the most popular alternative to corn but not easily grown in LA and most of the U.S. (due to climate).
I hope Louisiana is successful in finding a corn-substitite (grown locally/domestically) since this would help to drop the current high price of corn (and ethanol) and would help to create jobs in Louisiana and elsewhere.
